
The village of Picinguaba |

A small fishing village way up the northern São Paulo coastline, Picinguaba is located within the Serra do Mar State Park limits. Due to its location in this environment protected area, surrounded by the Atlantic Rainforest, almost all of its beaches are still primeval and the surrounding region is covered by trails leading to refreshing waterfalls. Moreover, being the state’s last native "caiçara" community, the village is safekept by the Historical Heritage Authority, owing its economical survival to artisanal sea-fishing, and lately also to eco-tourism. |
